One of the mom blogs I follow posted this recent notice on illegal levels of lead found in juice drinks and fruit cups. Along with Kat, my kids also have had many, many of the products listed below. I wonder why this did not make national news? I perhaps, simply was not listening. However, I doubt it as this information seems pretty important regarding the health of my kids. . My kids drink a lot of juice during the school year and it really infuriates me that companies can put something on the market with lead in it and it doesn’t get noticed until after millions of people have already ate them. I will have to keep this list with me when buying juice and applesauce. Whole foods brand is on the list also. Costco’s brand Kirkland is on the safe list as far as apple juice but it is not organic. The products, which are in violation of California’s Prop 65, were found to contain more than 0.5 micrograms of lead. The Environmental Law Foundation has submitted the drinks in violation to the California Attorney General and 58 county district attorneys hoping the government will take action. If California drops the ball, though, ELF plans to file a lawsuit in 60 days, according to the group’s press release.
